About the Author
Shel Silverstein is best known as a children's-book author who wrote and illustrated a number of bestselling books that have charmed millions of readers of all ages. Crossing many artistic boundaries, he was also a noted songwriter and an accomplshed playwright. Silverstein first came to prominence in the 1950s as a cartoonist for Playboy, where he assumed the role of roving ambassador for the up-and-coming magazine. This esteemed assignment -- due in no small part to his friendship with Hugh M. Hefner -- was the auspicious beginning of a most amazing career. Shel Silverstein died in 1999.

3 grandchildren can't be wrong!

Our 6 year old grandson then a boy/girl set of 31/2 year olds think this is the funniest book ever! Now I have to buy one for our other 3 year old granddaghter. Syd is my giggler . . . . she also loves Todd Parr books . . . bright colors . . .few words on each page . . giggle, giggle, giggle. I know Shel has left us, but such a great legacy he gives to our grand children. As a grandparent, I can think of nothing better than to teach our children to read & appreciate good books. Thank you to all you writers, artists & publishers . . . and especially Amazon for your easy distribution.

Good Introduction to Shel Silverstein, for Little ones

Know that it's for little little children. While Shel's poetry spans a greater age range, this one would be considered a starter. But still excellent Shel.

My daughter had me read this book to her over and over and over. She absolutely loved it!
It is a sweet, sweet book and perfect for the preschool age.
Of course, nearly anything written by Shel Silverstein is a must for your home library!
