About the Author
Mark Freeman is Professor of Psychology and Dean of the Class of 2011 at the College of the Holy Cross, where he has also served as the W. Arthur Garrity, Sr. Professor in Human Nature, Ethics and Society. He is the author of Rewriting the Self: History, Memory, Narrative; Finding the Muse: A Sociopsychological Inquiry into the Conditions of Artistic Creativity; and numerous articles on memory, self, and autobiographical narrative. Freeman is also the 2010 recipient of the Theodore Sarbin Award.

Smart and Thoroughly Readable

This book was a real pleasure to find. It is intellectual yet thoroughly readable. Anyone interested in philosophy or psychology would enjoy reading this book. Yes, it is a scholarly work, but no one should be scared away from this book by that term. Since reading it, I often find myself thinking about "Hindsight" and its effect on examining one's life. Recommend it 100%

Engaging Work Across Disciplines

Very fine work. How seamlessly Mark Freeman moves from the lyrical to the scholarly voice, imparting a rich and eclectic body of knowledge in a composite whole. Rare, as well, to glean sparks of creativity and originality in scholarship like this - via his conception of narrative unconscious, which I hope Freeman expands upon in future works, in the coining of phrases like narrative foreclosure, in his choice of autism as a descriptor.
In Hindsight, Mark Freeman adds to the growing chorus of voices that remind us to
think systemically, to connect dots across fields of scholarship. His positing of a non-linear, non-hierarchical view is one we must all share - that writing, living, learning are complex and situational, both private and social acts.
