About the Author
Mobeen Azhar is a BBC journalist, regular reporter for NPR's This World, and Prince fanatic. His documentary short Hunting For Prince's Vault was a worldwide hit, airing on BBC News 24, BBC World Service and NPR. While filming it he visited Paisley Park and interviewed many of Prince's associates, some of them speaking about Prince for the first time. Mobeen has reported for BBC's The One Show, Assignment, 5Live Investigates, as well as appearing on The Huffington Post Live. Excellent Book for Fans!

Excellent book written For the Fans. Fun memories from band mates and friends! No need for the author to write Long Winded paragraphs to rehash everything leaving room for great interesting details! Lots of Wonderful photographs, and they Match the era of each entery. It's also chronologically written. I'm Very happy with this book and being a Huge fan who doesn't need to reread Everything ever written, this is a Beautiful breath of fresh air. Highly Recommended to Everyone in the Purple Army.

I love Prince. I loved Prince from his very first release "For You" which features the hit "Soft & Wet" as well as many other jewels. I just received my book in the mail. I love everything about it from the cover to the content. Being a radio personality, this book is filled with a wealth of information that will leave you emotional, inspired and breathless after reading the paragraphs in this book from individuals who were blessed with the opportunity to hang in is space at some point in time is his life. The music Prince created is the sound track of my life which I will forever listen to non stop! This is a well written book from a different perspective. The perspective of those who lived the dream with our "PRINCE"... Bravo! Well written & well done! This book is a must have for your collection!

A very interesting and fun book to have...

Take artwork of spaceships, say from the cover of books or from magazines, and write a history around each one, listing why they were made, what they did and what happened to them. Now put all this ships into a book, split the book into three parts: military, commercial and special function, add a timeline, blueprints and specifcations. Not only did I enjoy the book, but I even recognized much of the artwork used.
I just wish there was more to the book and that the 'history' had more 'meat' to it. I may look for other books by the same author.

been trying to buy this book for 34 years !

As others have stated , I too discovered this book when it first was published. It was the late 1970's and I was in Junior High. our school library had a copy and I used to check this book out ALL the time. When I was in studyhall in the library I would go get this book and reread it; over and over again. I would attempt to draw space ships in the style that were drawn in the book, and the story line was facsinating. Once I went to the Senior High I no longer had access to it. Needless to say I loved this book and never forgot about it (did not know it was part of a series). I never found this book in any of the used book stores that I used to go to over the years, and I went to alot of used book stores. Finally ended up in my old Junior High library a few weeks back on a school related matter and it made me decide to finally find the book online. After a few fruitless searches I finally decided to buy this book on the hopes that it would be ' the one' from its description and the art work in the ad. It was the book and I am happy I got it.

excellent science fiction

I read these books as a kid in the early 80's, and I haven't seen them anywhere since. I wish the publisher would reprint them, because, as I recall, the stories and the artwork are better than most of the sci-fi you hear about today (Star Wars & Star Trek included). The stories are basically a future history, but only going forward about one-hundred years or so. Definately worth buying if you can find a copy...

Worth every penny

By far the best video game artbook I have seen. The thing smells amazing from all of the color ink used to produce it. Easily about half of the book is full page art printing, with many other pages featuring many different concepts for a particular element/character in the game. I am a big artbook aficionado and before this I would say the Witcher 3's artbook was the best, but the Fallout 4 artbook surpasses it with sheer content. If you are thinking about buying it, buy it now.

This book is HEAVY. I accidentally dropped it and tried to break the fall with my foot...ouch. The art is BEAUTIFUL! And there is a TON of it. One who is into Fallout could spend lots of time just ogling at the artwork. If you are a fan of the game or of the genre in general you cannot go wrong with this book.

No one is left unfed by the fruits of this Perennial Classic!

A timeless classic filled with timeless ideas and ideals.

I think Merton writes for all of us in this book. He leads us, he uplifts us, he motivates us, he accuses us, he challenges us, and he comforts us. He exudes such a solid spirituality.

I read this for the first time in the mid 70's, riding the #7 IRT subway to and from Manhattan every day. I look back at how Merton (or maybe it was not him) had the ability to captivate me in that environment. He just seemed to draw me in, amidst all the noise and heat of summer (there was no air-conditioning). I still remember the experience--a challenging, transforming, spiritual experience.

Part of my memory of this was that I encountered Truth--It was alive!--though I could not always describe how that was so. That memory has always allured me to reread this book. I did--a number of times. A reread of this is a completely new experience! I recently read him again, first the book--next as an audio book. I think the latter experience was even more impressive. Hearing his words has a remarkable effect. I don't think Merton (or Truth) leaves anybody unchanged!

You will never consider this a waste of time!

The author takes you from the basics of catholic spirituality (and even there he takes you into its profound spiritual meaning) to the depths of Catholic faith delving into a wide spectrum of stepping stone in depth journey that tackles different subjects with indepth of insight and modern spirituality such as the love of God and love of neighbour, the virtues such as faith and hope, discernment, right intention, prayer, sincerity and humility, God ''s will, vocations, mercy, recollection and more. A valuable spiritual book and great spiritual author.

Thomas Merton has had a profound impact on my life. While not Catholic [Episcopal, and fairly orthodox at that] he is very inspiring in the way in which to be totally surrendered to a good heavenly Father. "The more time we spend looking for perfection here on earth, the more time we waste finding it only where it can be found, in God". This quote has helped me to love people all the more, and love God above all else.
I can't thank God enough for saints like Thomas Merton who help lay people and novices like myself be caught up in a huge and wonderful Father.

When I hear the 1960s, I associate the decade with Neil Armstrong and his stepping on the moon, JFK’s assassination, lots of classic TV shows, and even my parents’ childhood. For other people, they can probably only associate one thing with the 1960s – that fateful day Berlin was divided and the Wall that continued to haunt their lives for 28 years. I remember learning about the Berlin Wall and Reagan's famous quote in social studies; yet, I never pursued reading any further information. A Night Divided was the first historical fiction I read on the subject and I must say Ms. Nielsen does a fantastic job with drawing the readers into this ghastly point in history.

Gerta, her brother Fritz, and their mother wake up one morning to find a fence separating them from West Berlin but more tragically, from their father and other brother who went to West Berlin only 2 days before. The book is told by Gerta, who struggles under the oppressiveness of the GDR while attempting to dig a tunnel to the other side with hopes to unite her divided family. Gerta’s voice is strong and mature for a 12 year old girl as her circumstances force her to grow up before her time. Her courage and will to be free are admirable while her struggle to forgive and understand the world’s cruelties is plausible.

I must warn potential readers that you will not want to put this book down. From the first page, it is nonstop and Nielsen keeps you on edge with each new plot development (we fans know she is an expert at this!). Working and even sleeping got in my way of finishing this book sooner than I actually did. The provided historical pictures and map prior to the story prepare the readers for the somber yet hopeful mood of the book and many of the quotes at each chapter’s beginning will stay with you. A Night Divided is a book that should be read by every historical fiction fan and every social studies classroom. I think it is safe to say that Nielsen is wonderful at writing fantasy and historical fiction!

THIS is the ultimate Merle haggard biography!

Unlike the recent autobiography by Tom Carter, this is the book you want to read to get an in-depth, detailed look at the life of Merle Haggard. It's funny, touching, interesting....all kinds of emotions rolled-into one book. The reading is easy, yet it doesn't gloss over the events in Merle's life. It is much more interesting and educational than the new book that is out. I highly recommend it.

Merle Haggard certainly told it like it was. He may not have told it all, but what he did tell will keep you riveted to your seat. He was country music's bad boy for a long time, and is still a little wild and crazy.
His early years in this book ought to be required reading for every young man, according to Johnny Cash, who pointed out that it is easy to get in trouble just for being adventuresome. Well, Merle certainly was that. His voice is clear in every word of this book and if you listen close you can hear him chuckle between the lines because it is guaranteed that the world is not ready to hear "all" of the stories Haggard could tell. These are quite interesting enough, thank you.
Great book. Great story. Too bad it is not a movie! It would put most of the bio movies to shame.

sing me back home by merle haggard is a honest and heartfelt story about a man who has certainly done and seen it all . this is the best biography i have ever read . the storie's of his time in prison tug at your heart string's . merle haggard in my opinion is the best country singer to ever write a country song .

I have seen a lot of tattoo learning or apprentice style books, this one is very direct and to the point - gets it done in a text book style. Easy to read. I run a tattoo school on the East coast - and I require all the students who complete my 6 month intro course to read this. The only way you can really learn to tattoo is from an apprenticeship - we just try to prep them for a fast track into the apprenticeship so they can focus on their artwork and this book really helps us get them on track. Trying to keep this relatively brief, I think its only right to give a bit of background as to where this reveiw comes from. I'm an artist in other mediums that has supported myself nicely for over
20 years,but have always been extremely interested in tattooing and beautification of the body. Unfortunatly still to this day many in the tattoo field want to make it seem as if the art form is some
secret, mysterious and unattainable cult that can only be bestowed upon those few who are chosen to "pay their dues" by the "old school" method of being an indentured slave for some time period.
Apprentiseship is not the same thing as slavery. I started late and couldn't afford that luxury. So I tried to learn and read and research and practice as much as I could and still do.
With all that said, the reason Mr Jordan gets my 5 stars is for what he is trying to create. He's attempting to create a community of people that are interested in this art form so that they can get
accurate information, not only through his book, but by attaching it to an open forum on the internet. In other words, I believe he is being truthful about the art of tattoo. The only way to become good
at any art is with talent, learning and hard work.
I have studied many books and other information on tattooing and I don't think any get 5 stars for content. There are many different opinions, even between the more well known artists out there.
Sometimes the website can be a bit sparse and erratic, but he certainly gives you an understanding of all the basics and seems to be a work in progress. Combined with the book, and the desire and guts
to make it available to those who make an effort, I certainly say thanks and give him 5 stars!

Added note: he has been very helpful whenever I have contacted him on the website( I hope he doesn't mind me saying ) doing all this while risking his life for our freedom being deployed over in the
gulf.

Pretty good Info

I found this book to be helpful in many areas. I tattoo, but wanted to understand more of the technical aspect of it. This book helped me understand better how a machine works, & how to tweak my machine to my liking. You won't read this book & open your own shop the next day, but there is a lot of good information in all aspects of tattooing. Including how to deal with customers, drawing deposits, aftercare, etc. I recommend this book to someone who wants to understand their trade better.

IMHO - An excellent resource for the beginning artist!

It's only the second tattoo beginner's book I've read this month, but I personally found it superior to the first (The Complete Art of Tattooing - Erick Alayon). This book breaks down the art of tattooing into easy to follow fundamental sections. In the early part of the book it even defines a set of landmarks the beginning artist should accomplish prior to putting needle to skin. It's everything the beginning artist needs in their first book. It touches on all aspects of the industry and process of tattooing. I highly recommend it to the beginning artist.

My favorite thing about this book is that the author gives the reader a of list of retailers for equipment and supplies after each respective section. Like other beginner's books he stresses the importance of an apprenticeship, and informs beginning artists that quality equipment and supplies from many renowned retailers will only sell to licensed tattoo shops.
